COMMUNITIES LEADING DEVELOPMENT

Since 2016, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has been implementing the Communities Leading Development Project, empowering communities in Guatemala’s Western Highlands to identify their own development needs.

USAID is supporting Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and a consortium of dedicated partners, including Caritas San Marcos, and Caritas de Los Altos.

The project has three specific objectives:

Citizens empowered through participation in development of Community Development Plans.

Quality of life improved through the development and implementation of Community Development Plans.

Long-term sustainability of community development improved by leveraging local and external resources.

IMPLEMENTATION AREAS

Populations of 200 communities in 30 municipalities in the departments of Huehuetenango, Quetzaltenango, Quiché, San Marcos and Totonicapán.
